If you fit this profile, then you could join the dynamic Investigations Team within the Professional Conduct Branch at VIT, with an exciting and challenging mandate to enable quality teaching and provide for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. The Assistant Manager, Investigations role offers an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced investigations leader who is passionate about using their expertise to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers. With expert knowledge of investigations, extensive people management experience, and experience developing policies and procedures, the successful candidate will ensure VIT makes informed decisions about the suitability of teachers to hold registration. About the role This role will require you to: Manage large teams of Investigators and Senior Investigators, leading staff to conduct assessments and investigations into the most serious and complex breaches of the VIT Codes of Conduct and Ethics, and to investigate criminal offences under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. Exercise sound decision making and risk management practices in the allocation, prioritisation, and progression of assessments and investigations to enable VIT to meet its regulatory responsibilities, including to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. Review and provide feedback on a range of reports, briefs and correspondence dealing with highly complex issues, and deliver verbal briefings to senior managers and decision-making bodies. This role will involve exposure to sensitive and objectionable material. Assistant Managers, Investigations are responsible for overseeing investigations of allegations of child abuse and neglect, and child sexual abuse. About you You will have extensive knowledge of and experience in contemporary government investigative processes, strong people management experience, and a passion for child safety. As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate: More than five years of experience conducting complex investigations in a criminal or regulatory environment. Proven experience in managing and supervising a team of technical specialists in the delivery of an investigative function. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong attention to detail. The completion of a Diploma of Government (Investigations), or have the ability to attain within 12 months.
