About the Role The Commercial Analyst – Energy Markets is responsible for analysing energy market trends, supporting trading strategies, and optimising commercial outcomes. This role involves a strong focus on data-driven decision-making, market forecasting, and operational efficiency in wholesale energy markets. Key Responsibilities Market Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of energy market data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Forecasting: Develop and maintain forecasting models for wholesale energy prices, demand, and renewable generation. Commercial Strategy Support: Assist in the development and execution of trading strategies to maximise revenue and minimise risk. Portfolio Optimisation: Analyse the performance of energy assets and recommend strategies for optimisation. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor market regulations and ensure all trading activities align with compliance standards. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including market performance and strategic insights. Collaboration: Work closely with trading, operations, and finance teams to deliver cohesive commercial outcomes. Key Requirements Proven experience in energy markets, trading, or a similar analytical role. Strong understanding of wholesale electricity markets, including NEM dynamics. Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, or MATLAB). Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with experience in developing forecasting models. Knowledge of renewable energy generation, including wind, solar, and battery storage. Ability to interpret market regulations and apply them to commercial strategies. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Degree qualifications in economics, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Why Join?
