Base pay range A$700.00/daily - A$800.00/daily Ongoing opportunity A Database Engineer is required by a top company specializing in renewable energy. Your new company Hays Technology has partnered with an exciting renewable energy company in partnership with the private sector and industry players, to appoint a Database Engineer for an initial 6-month contract ongoing opportunity. Your new role The Database Engineer is responsible for supporting, developing, and maintaining Microsoft (MS) SQL Server and/or Oracle RDBMS platforms both in the Data Centres and in the Cloud. This involves the daily maintenance, administration, delivery, recovery, and support of SQL and Oracle Server platform database technologies within the ICT environment. The position is also responsible for the execution of planned project work and reacting to unplanned incidents that occur. This position may be required to manage time and key resources appropriately to ensure timely resolution and achievement of project deliverables. Responsibilities and outcomes Design: Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leaders to design and architect the SQL and Oracle platforms, leveraging automation and scalability to deliver self-serve and self-managed solutions. Migration Strategy: Work with others to seamlessly move existing SQL and Oracle platforms to the cloud environment. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guide the technical aspects of Oracle and SQL dependent projects, providing expertise, best practices, and driving decisions to ensure successful implementation. Technical Guidance: Train and mentor others to grow skills within the ICT team and increase the overall capacity of the organization's SQL and Oracle capability. Administration: Day-to-day administration which includes the installation, configuring, monitoring underlying operating systems, associated software, and hardware components related to the SQL and Oracle platforms. Automation: Plan, standardize, and automate repeatable operational processes using infrastructure as Code scripting technologies for the SQL and Oracle platforms. What you'll need to succeed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in IT (desired). Oracle DBA, SQL Server DBA certification (desired). Unix administration certification (desired). ITIL v4 Foundation Certification (desired). Azure or AWS Certification (desired). Experience and knowledge Advanced experience in managing SQL and Oracle. Successful track record of developing and managing SQL and Oracle environments. Hands-on experience of supporting and managing SQL and Oracle technical solutions for both on-premises and cloud environments. Experience working with and enhancing IT Service Management processes. Proven experience with the following technologies: SQL Database and support systems. Oracle Database and support systems. ODA, EXADATA or similar engineered Oracle product. Backup/Recovery Tools for SQL and Oracle platforms e.g., RMAN, DataDomain and/or Secure backups. Experience working with ASM or ACFS. High availability systems like DataGuard or RAC for Oracle and AAG and Mirroring for SQL Server. Microsoft Azure technology and systems.
