Critical national asset Multiple positions on important independent committee Terms up to three years; remunerated appointments About the organisation .au Domain Administration Limited (auDA) is a not-for-profit organisation established by the Australian internet community to oversee the operation and management framework of the trusted top-level .au domain. auDA is endorsed by the Commonwealth Government to ensure the .au domain is an open, secure, accessible and trusted Australian public asset for all internet users. Under the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act 2018 , auDA has been declared as the entity that is critical to the administration of the Australian domain name system. auDA represents Australia’s interests internationally and has an agreement with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the international body responsible for coordinating the Internet’s naming and numbering systems. About the role auDA is governed by a Board comprising the independent Chair, five appointed directors and four elected directors. In 2019, an independent Nomination Committee was established to approve suitable candidates as auDA Board directors. Seen by Government and other stakeholders as an important function, the Committee provides objective and impartial advice by identifying, scrutinising and approving appropriate director candidates consistent with the Board-approved Board Skills Matrix and Board priorities. Meeting around six times a year and chaired by the auDA Board Chair, the Committee consists of two annually appointed (retiring or recently retired) Directors of the auDA Board, six other members drawn from industry, business, consumers and auDA members, plus a Government representative. The Committee is briefed at regular intervals on the issues facing auDA that are relevant to the Committee and candidate selection. About you You are a highly respected leader hailing from an aligned sector, business or government. Expertise represented on the Committee will include technical internet knowledge, digital technology, strategic planning, business development, governance and stakeholder management skills. Previous board/governance experience will be well regarded, but is not mandatory. Curious, agile, innovative and with high EQ and integrity, you have a demonstrated public benefit ethos.
