Rio Tinto are expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety and environmental performance. About the Role: We are looking for a Ballast Cleaning Project Engineer to be part of the Rio Tinto Rail Network Renewals Engineering Team in Dampier. This role is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic team that is responsible for delivering Rio Tinto Rail Divisions capital ballast cleaning program. This annual program covers approximately 50 to 60 kilometres of ballast cleaning, along with the necessary civil enabling and material logistics to support the main works scope. Responsibilities and Duties: Manage work packages from design through to execution and closeout. Collaborate with the project team and internal stakeholders to plan enabling, ballast cleaning, and material logistics phases. Perform engineering activities in line with RTIO engineering standards and practices. Participate in design and constructability reviews. Develop staging, shunting, planning, and methodology for work packages. Oversee pre-execution and execution engineering activities within a multi-disciplined heavy haul rail environment. Manage project scope, time, and quality. Ensure delivery of planned works aligns with RTIO standards and manage quality assurance deliverables. Provide technical support to the execution team in the field. Skills & Experience Required: A tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Civil Engineering/Construction or a related field. Strong knowledge of engineering, construction, and design principles. Experience in a large infrastructure environment. Excellent logical and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project. Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a team and prioritize tasks. Strong relationship-building skills with various stakeholders. Proven experience working with execution teams. A willingness to learn and grow. C Class WA Manual Drivers License.
