Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Environmental Scientist providing expert guidance and oversight in the management and assessment of contaminated sites predominantly for clients within the mining industry. The ideal candidate will design and lead projects in consultation with the Principal Consultant, manage and conduct site investigations to assist our clients in managing and mitigating their site contamination risks. REMUNERATION PACKAGE : GRM is committed to providing a remuneration package to its employees that will: Attract, reward, and retain qualified team members who will actively participate in achieving GRM’s strategic objectives. The remuneration package is comprised of three key components: Fixed Remuneration – salary and superannuation. Performance-Based Remuneration – 10% of annual company profits are made available to employees based on individual performance. Wellbeing Remuneration – This includes allowances for Private Health Insurance, Personal Travel Insurance, three additional Company Days provided as paid leave, and access to an Employee Wellbeing Service operated by Professional Psychologists. SPECIFIC DUTIES: The successful candidate will be a technically proficient Senior Environmental Scientist with the ability to solve problems, communicate technical solutions to non-technical professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of GRM. Duties will include: Technical Leadership: Lead and contribute to complex contaminated sites investigations, including the design, execution, and interpretation of field and laboratory investigations. Apply advanced analytical techniques to assess soil and water quality, identifying potential environmental impacts. Team Management: Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of environmental scientists and contaminated sites specialists. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging professional development and knowledge sharing. Project Management: Oversee project planning, budgeting, and scheduling, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget. Act as the main point of contact for clients, addressing their needs, and providing updates on project progress. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of environmental regulations and ensure project compliance. Interface with regulatory agencies as needed, providing necessary documentation and expertise. Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored solutions. Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations. Innovation and Research: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in contaminated sites and related fields. Lead and contribute to research initiatives, exploring innovative solutions and methodologies. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and review technical reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Present findings to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will preferably have: M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Environmental Science, or a related Geoscience field. Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the field of contaminated sites, with a focus on soil and water assessments. Experience with hydrogeochemical assessments within the mining industry is desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in geochemical and/or geostatistical evaluation of data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes. Leadership experience and the ability to inspire and mentor a team.
