Join to apply for the Senior Legal Counsel - Regulatory Law role at Business NSW Based at our Chifley Square Head Office and reporting into the General Counsel and Company Secretary, the Senior Legal Counsel - Regulatory role is a senior management position within the Group. You will work closely with the General Counsel & Company Secretary, the other in-house lawyers and relevant executives in relation to regulatory and compliance matters, project work, and improving risk management and compliance procedures and measures within the Group. Initial key opportunities and areas of focus in this role will include supporting the community care business in connection with the implementation of the support at home aged care, and relevant privacy reforms. You will also be involved in the integration of a recently acquired community care business. Please note: We are pleased to offer a hybrid work environment with Monday to Wednesday in the office, and Thursday and Friday generally being work from home days. There will also be the opportunity to travel interstate when required. Main responsibilities include: Advise business units and the executive leadership team in relation to a wide range of regulatory compliance matters, with a particular focus on NDIS, aged care, and health care regulation. Lead and manage the design and implementation of risk management and compliance frameworks, policies, processes, and associated legal training, including in response to legislative/regulatory changes. Draft reports for the consideration of the Executive Leadership Team, Board, and relevant Board committees as required. Assist with mandatory notification to regulators that may be required, including the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Support and advise business units in connection with any enquiries or investigations by a regulator. Assist with employee and clinical investigations. Management of project work as required. Brief and manage external counsel. Develop and maintain core legal precedents for use by the business units. Provide sound, pragmatic, and commercial legal advice. Support the management of disputes and litigation involving Group companies. Provide, if required, legal support in respect of any overflow of general commercial/corporate legal work. Work closely with key stakeholders in the various business units to ensure that the Group complies with its legal obligations and manages risk within agreed parameters. About you: You will have previous and substantial experience working at a senior level in-house (at least 10+ years PQE) and experience in the NDIS, aged care, or other healthcare industries. You will have expertise in providing regulatory advice, dealing with healthcare regulators, and developing compliance frameworks and processes, as well as delivering compliance training. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and influence a large and complex stakeholder group in what can be a high-pressure environment.
