Shift Manager Full Time - YHA Blue Mountains We are on the lookout for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Shift Manager at YHA Blue Mountains, on a full-time basis. YHA Blue Mountains, nestled in the central area of Katoomba, is a 240-bed facility catering to both domestic and international travelers, as well as sizable groups. This historic site boasts extensive communal amenities, a co-working area, ample space for groups and events, and a diverse range of private and shared rooms. Guests can enjoy a daily breakfast service, with the option of catering for groups and those attending meetings. A dedicated team of 12 staff members strives to create unforgettable experiences for guests. About the role: YHA is seeking a full-time Shift Manager to join our management team in Blue Mountains. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations during your shift, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the property. Your main duties will include providing exceptional service to our guests, supervising team members, and offering primary support. As a key point of contact for both guests and staff, you will address any issues that arise, fostering a positive and welcoming environment. What your day will look like: Promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the property and ensure that the property is representative of YHA values and mission. Monitoring and managing daily operations including check-ins/outs, groups movements, activities, and events. Conducting regular inspections to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety. Supervising team members on shift and ensuring they follow correct procedures. Providing guidance, support, and training to team members as needed. Handling guest inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional and timely manner. Preparing shift reports and communicating relevant information to the Property Manager and other team members. Acting as the first point of contact in emergency situations, following established protocols. Performing other relevant duties assigned by the Property Manager or Assistant Manager. What are we looking for: A positive attitude and the ability to have fun while working. Flexible availability to work a 24/7 roster, including overnight shifts as needed. Previous experience in a supervisory or management position within the hospitality industry is preferred. Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for training and developing team members. Proven experience in resolving problems effectively. Skilled at managing challenging situations with professionalism.
