The Opportunity: Join the MSP Joint Domain as a Software Engineer on a project responsible for sustaining and optimising databases and associated tools. This role will focus on the development of an open-architecture system that leverages modern and future-proof technology, aligning with Defence policy and industry best practices. This is a full-time permanent position, based in RAAF Base, Edinburgh – South Australia. Interstate applicants are welcome to apply however relocation to South Australia will be required. This position will require an active AGSVA NV1 clearance and the successful candidate must be willing to upgrade to an NV2. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop a scalable, open-architecture system using industry-standard technologies. Contribute to the front-end, back-end, and database architecture, ensuring integration and compliance with Defence policies. Work collaboratively with software engineers, system designers, and database specialists to refine technical solutions. Develop and maintain REST APIs and implement Spring Boot-based backend services. Ensure secure authentication and data management practices, including Spring Security and JWT. Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration processes. Engage in team discussions, offering insights and recommendations to improve system performance and maintainability. Work effectively within a collaborative team environment, fostering respectful and open communication. Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science. Experience with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server for database architecture and management. You have a strong background in web architecture design and software development. You thrive in a team-oriented environment, collaborating effectively and communicating respectfully. You have a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to refine requirements and adapt to evolving project needs. You hold an active NV1 security clearance (essential).
