We are currently seeking an experienced Systems Design Engineer with a strong focus on Narrowband communication systems to join our growing team based at our Kilsyth, VIC/Melbourne site. About the Role The Systems Design Engineer will provide essential engineering support across a variety of systems integration, installation, commissioning, and project management activities specifically related to Narrowband communication systems. This role will involve working with RF concepts and Narrowband technologies, designing communication systems, troubleshooting, providing product support, and participating in field activities such as installations and testing. Key Responsibilities Tender Response Preparation: Participate in the preparation of tender responses specific to Narrowband solutions and provide support for other activities as required. Design and Integration: Design and integrate Narrowband communication systems to meet customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices. Product Support: Provide specialized product support to sales teams and customers on Narrowband systems, including training factory personnel on product use and maintenance. Testing and Fault Finding: Test, troubleshoot, and maintain Narrowband communication systems, ensuring quality and functionality to meet customer expectations. Field Activities: Participate in field activities such as local and interstate site visits, equipment installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and user acceptance. This includes conducting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) while ensuring proper system documentation. Project Delivery: Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting deadlines for quoting, design proposals, and other assigned tasks related to Narrowband systems. Customer and Peer Feedback: Receive positive feedback from customers and peers regarding support and service quality related to Narrowband communication products. Required Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of experience in RF field services activities, specifically related to Narrowband communication systems. Broad knowledge of RF concepts, Narrowband technologies, and product applications. Experience in designing two-way radio systems, including multi-coupling and antenna systems suitable for Narrowband applications. Some domestic and international travel is required. Experience in RF and communication systems design, bid/quote activities, and major project environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with RF propagation or other RF engineering software tools is advantageous. Relevant tertiary education in a related field. Additional Skills: Ability to liaise effectively with sales teams, end-users, distributors, consultants, and network operators regarding Narrowband communication solutions. Strong coordination and organizational skills. Results-oriented, with demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
