About The Role Salary from $109,000 per annum (plus super) – plus over time and allowances We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Telecommunications Technical Officer to join our specialised field team. You will be working across Southern Tasmania and at times across the state to provide services critical to the operation of the Tasmanian electricity network and essential data services for the wider Tasmanian community through 42-24.With sites ranging from inner city to remote hilltop sites, at times you will be working within some of Tasmania’s pristine world heritage areas with truly remarkable views.What You’ll Do The Telecommunications Technical Officer is responsible for providing quality, responsive and cost-effective technical in field services in a specialist technical telecommunications team servicing customer requirements. You will ensure the effective service delivery, maintenance, and operation of our telecommunications network through performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of telecommunications equipment. At times this will involve working at heights. Participate in a mobilised 24/7 after-hours roster for prompt restoration of unplanned network outages and other faults. Collaborate with regional and cross-functional teams to implement telecommunications projects that meet customer and business needs. Prepare accurate cost estimates, detailed reports, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Upholding and remaining committed to a safe working environment and the ability to follow policies and procedures is critical to the success of the role. About You Holding relevant qualifications or industry experience (in a field based technical/network environment), you will deliver positive customer outcomes, consistently prioritising workload and making informed decisions whilst communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.Your working knowledge of standards and codes of practice will support your formal training in one or more of the following telecommunications disciplines: radio communications systems, optical communications systems, IP & data networks, telephony and optical fibre installation/testing and you will demonstrate your ability to draw on this knowledge in analysing system faults.You will highlight your focus on maintaining a safe working environment for both yourself and those around you, with consideration for working in remote areas.You will hold an unrestricted Tasmanian driving licence and will be required to pass a role-based medical assessment, police clearance and AusCheck assessment for this role.If you enjoy working outdoors and strive to provide quality service to customers we would love to hear from you!What's on offer This is a Permanent full time opportunity, offering an attractive remuneration and benefits package.At TasNetworks we want to power a bright future for our people, our community and our customers.
