We are looking for someone who can lead the team and manage the detail that keeps the business running smoothly.The OpportunityWe are seeking a Retail Manager to organise and oversee the daily operations of Tummy Topper. You will supervise staff, manage purchasing and stock, monitor sales and expenses, and maintain customer service standards.Working with the owner and preparation team, you will plan staffing and stock around customer demand, resolve operational issues and help improve the performance of the business.What You Will Be Responsible Fori. Managing daily retail operations, coordinating opening and closing procedures and ensuring the customer service and product display areas are clean, organised and ready for trade.ii. Reviewing the range of food, desserts and beverages with the owner, using sales patterns and customer feedback to guide product availability and promotional decisions.iii. Planning stock levels and placing orders for ingredients, beverages, packaging and other supplies to meet demand and avoid unnecessary shortages or overstocking.iv. Coordinating suppliers and deliveries, checking quantities and product condition, and resolving discrepancies in orders, invoices or supply arrangements.v. Monitoring stock rotation, storage and expiry dates, coordinating stocktakes and reviewing wastage to maintain product quality and control costs.vi. Reviewing product pricing, purchasing costs and sales margins with the owner, implementing approved changes and ensuring prices are consistent across menus and ordering systems.vii. Planning and implementing approved promotions, product displays and marketing activities, and reviewing their effect on customer demand and sales.viii. Managing staff selection, induction, training and supervision, preparing rosters and allocating duties to maintain service during busy periods.ix. Setting customer service standards, coordinating counter, takeaway and delivery order workflows, and resolving customer enquiries, complaints and order issues.x. Maintaining sales and stock records, reviewing daily takings, reconciling cash and electronic payments, and investigating transaction discrepancies.xi. Preparing operating budgets with the owner, monitoring staffing costs and other expenses, and reporting on sales trends, wastage and business performance.xii. Overseeing food hygiene, cleaning and workplace safety procedures, maintaining staff awareness and arranging action on equipment faults, hazards or service issues.Skills and Professional Competenciesi. Practical understanding of retail operations within a food, dessert or beverage business.ii. Ability to manage purchasing, stock rotation and wastage while maintaining product availability.iii. Strong leadership skills and the ability to train staff, delegate tasks and maintain service standards.iv. Confidence using point-of-sale systems, sales reports and stock records.v. Ability to monitor costs and margins and explain business performance clearly to the owner.vi. Good organisational skills and a calm approach to managing busy service periods and competing priorities.vii. An AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Retail Management, Business, Hospitality Management or a related field, or at least three years of relevant experience in place of the formal qualification.ii. Two to three years of relevant retail management or supervisory experience is preferred.iii.
