Join our Skills and Jobs Centre at Swinburne University Part-time (0.6), fixed-term positions (until 31 Dec 2025), working across our Swinburne campuses at Hawthorn, Wantirna and Croydon HEW Level 6 salary + 17% super and staff benefits About the Role The Skills and Jobs Centre at Swinburne University of Technology is seeking two qualified and experienced Career Support Advisors to join their supportive team. You will play a key role in providing high-quality career guidance, job readiness support, and information on training, courses, and career pathways.You will work primarily with priority community groups, including migrants, individuals returning to the workforce, and career changers, as well as select Swinburne student groups. Additionally, this position will strengthen and expand partnerships with local communities and service providers to extend outreach opportunities.This 3-day part-time role, on campus, will be split between supporting community clients and Swinburne’s Migrant English and General Education students. Skills and knowledge required for this role include, but are not limited to: Providing interview preparation tips and mock interview feedback Course guidance Morrisby Profile facilitation Referrals to other service providers Presentation and facilitation skills A collaborative approach to work with the ability to manage your own workload and work independently Experience working with diverse and disadvantaged groups and individuals facing education and employment barriers will be looked upon favourably. While every day will be different, this role comprises three main responsibilities: Careers Consultations: Conducting up to four 45min 1:1 client consultations per day, providing individualised guidance and follow up activities such as research on behalf of the client plus administration duties including client notes and client emails. Workshop Facilitation: Facilitating workshops and presentations online and in person. This role requires ability in workshop content creation and adapting existing presentation content to meet the needs of the audience. Stakeholder Engagement: Promoting Skills and Jobs Centre services to all relevant stakeholders internally and externally. This could include attending career expos, Swinburne open days, local events, local schools as well as connecting with Swinburne staff and local service providers. Local travel will be required for this role including travelling between Swinburne campuses. About You To be suitable for this role you will have: Demonstrated experience in a Careers Consultation role working with diverse groups. Ability to develop and deliver training addressing employment and education topics. Strong computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office suite, CRM, email, social media pages). Ability to work with minimum supervision. Experience with reporting guidelines and KPIs. Qualifications Relevant post-graduate or a vocational qualification in Career Development and/or significant experience in a careers advisor role.
