21 hours ago Be among the first 25 applicants Impactful role working on Major Projects Devonport or Launceston based Your new company Hays is partnering with a State-wide organisation to seek a dedicated Safety Manager for a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract, to join their Major Projects team. This role is crucial in supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and administration of safety systems, processes, tools, and site operations. You can be based in either Devonport or Launceston for this 6 month position.Your new role The Safety Manager reports into the General Manager Major Projects and will be responsible for developing and refining Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems, processes, and tools. You will facilitate the flow of information across departments and organisational boundaries to mitigate safety risks.You will be supporting frontline workers and contractors in balancing project demands and learning from events will be a key part of your role. You will successfully drive open communication and continuous improvement in safety practices, integrating safety into project strategy and front-end planning. Providing WHS expertise and support for hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures will be essential.You will conduct WHS and contract assurance activities for contractors and internal projects, administer the safety management system and contractor induction system, deliver internal WHS training programs, and participate in project risk management processes.What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will need: Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety, and Environment or equivalent work experience. Proven experience in construction or port-related fields. Strong self-management skills and the ability to plan and organise tasks within prescribed timeframes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. Experience in incident investigations and WHS auditing. Knowledge of WHS management procedures and processes, especially ISO14001, AS4801, ISO45001, or ISO18001. Familiarity with state environmental, WHS, and workers' compensation legislation. Valid driver's licence, flexibility to travel to sites as needed and the ability to acquire and hold an MSIC.
