Job Description
Our Townsville-based AOD Service supports individuals - both youth and adult - who are engaged in problematic substance use. We are looking for a passionate Alcohol and Other Drug Clinician to deliver Therapeutic AOD Interventions in the Townsville HHS. Your Opportunity As an AOD Clinician you will work with a case load of clients who are wanting to overcome their problematic substance use. You will provide high quality engagement, assessment counselling and support services to your clients, using your experience in evidence-based practice principles for withdrawal, support and recovery. This is a full-time, fixed-term position (until 30th June 2025, with the possibility of extension) based at our office in Townsville, with some outreach to Ayr, Ingham, and Charters Towers. The salary is $43.08 - $51.51 per hour plus Superannuation and Salary Packaging. The salary on offer will depend on the skills, knowledge and experience of the successful candidate. What we are looking for Tertiary qualified (Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology or relevant Diploma). You don’t need to have experience in this field – in fact, we welcome new Graduates, but you must be passionate about working with both youth and adults in the Townsville community and have the following skills and attributes: Demonstrated knowledge in family/AOD counselling practice complemented with contemporary evidence-based AOD counselling practice, case management, intake, and assessment. Strong computer skills and knowledge of CRM systems, and the importance of maintaining accurate data. Culturally safe and appropriate work practices, and ability to tailor your approach to a wide variety of people. Engagement and rapport building skills – you will need to develop connections quickly. Emotional maturity, patience, and resilience – there will be both positive and negative outcomes in this role. Stakeholder engagement - maintaining relationships with local youth services is a key factor. Knowledge of the local region is highly desirable. You will be tertiary qualified, hold an Australian Drivers Licence and current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).Most importantly, you will be values-driven and aligned with ours: We are humble, human, and full of hope.
