Job Description

Aboriginal Peak Organisations of the Northern Territory (APO NT) is an alliance of Aboriginal organisations committed to increasing Aboriginal involvement in policy development and implementation, and to expanding opportunities for Aboriginal community control across all sectors. APO NT also seeks to strengthen networks between peak Aboriginal organisations and smaller regional Aboriginal organisations in the NT. Salary packaging options up to $18,450 per annum tax free (conditions apply) Annual airfare allowance 6 weeks annual leave 3 weeks personal leave About the role APO NT is seeking an Administration Officer to provide essential administrative support across our teams. This is a key role, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and supporting our dynamic team in delivering on our advocacy goals. As an Administration Officer, you will manage calendars, coordinate meetings, take minutes, and assist with external stakeholder communication, while also playing a key role in organising events and workshops. Key Responsibilities Act as the first point of contact for stakeholders and the public, handling enquiries and maintaining communication records. Provide executive support to the APO NT Secretariat, General Manager, and/or CEO, including diary and task management. Assist with organising and facilitating meetings, events, and workshops, including managing logistics such as catering, travel, and materials. Prepare agendas, take minutes, distribute documents, and manage IT equipment during meetings. Support the smooth operation and cohesion of the APO NT team. Perform other duties as required to support APO NT’s activities. Selection Criteria Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively in a cross-cultural environment, particularly within Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience preparing general correspondence and documentation. Proven ability in administrative support, including high-level organisational skills, meeting facilitation, and event coordination. Self-motivated with strong time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to work independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, videoconferencing, and website administration. Satisfactory Criminal History Check and current Ochre Card (or ability to obtain). Experience working within Aboriginal organisations and/or understanding of the National Partnership Agreement on Closing the Gap.
