THE ROLE - PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST - NV1 CLEARANCE A REQUIREMENT APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON THURSDAY 23RD JANUARY - 12 MONTH CONTRACT WITH POSSIBLE 12 MONTH EXTENSION Our client is seeking a Procurement and Contract Management Specialist to assist with the day-to-day procurement and contract management processes in accordance with departmental and whole of government procurement policies, supporting the Procurement & Contracts Team within their Security Portfolio, Infrastructure and Business Services Branch (SNB). This role involves comprehensive oversight and management of procurement activities, from providing advice and support for various procurement tasks to preparing essential procurement documentation such as market approach approvals, evaluation outcomes, and funding commitments. It requires administering tender documentation through platforms like AusTender and the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), and delivering high-level customer service to internal clients and stakeholders by engaging with agency representatives and proactively seeking feedback. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders and suppliers, effectively managing contract inquiries, issues, disputes, variations, risks, and conducting necessary negotiations. The role also involves managing a range of contracts, including monitoring extensions, renewals, and close-outs, as well as problem-solving contract-related issues. Additionally, the role encompasses preparing and managing government contracts and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), providing policy advice on compliance with Australian Government legislation and procurement policies, and developing communication strategies to support changes within the Diplomatic Security Division (DSD). Other duties include risk assessment, corporate document management, mailbox management, and offering support to the line manager to enhance procurement outcomes, efficiency, and value for money. Location: Barton, ACT 2600 Contract Duration: March 2025 – February 2026 (with possible 12-month extension) Hours: 37.5 hours per week Security Clearance: Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) or higher Skills and Experience: Four years' experience working within Government Procurement; Thorough understanding of the PGPA Act for complex procurements; Complex contract management experience, with knowledge of CCS; Experience providing oversight of public sector procurement activities; Ability to undertake analysis of suppliers, markets, products, and service categories to inform procurement planning; Provide advice on 'best fit' security procurement approaches; Assist in the administration of tender evaluation reports for consideration and approval; Ability to assist in the oversight of contracts administration activities and monitoring of contract management plans; Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written; Ability to work effectively as an individual or within a team environment; The ability to work with minimal supervision; Must hold Australian citizenship and have a current NV1 clearance APPLICATIONS Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover page statement of claims , commonly referred to as a ‘one-page pitch ’, along with a current resume .
