The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency. The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Position: The Senior Policy Officer, SDL Accounting is responsible for supporting water accounting projects that contribute to the implementation of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. The position supports a range of activities within the SDL Accounting team, including policy development, data analysis, data presentation, and the preparation of external reports for internal and external audiences. Your key responsibilities in this role are to: Support assessment and accreditation of technical components of Basin state water resource plans. Undertake water data analysis, quality assurance and develop written content for the annual water take report. Assist managers to work across Commonwealth and state agencies to resolve technical issues and develop and implement policy that ensures a coordinated approach across governments. Assist in the implementation of the first stages of SDL compliance. Assist in analysis and/or research on various policy and technical issues associated with implementing the Basin Plan.
