Join our team as an Aboriginal Community Officer and help drive cultural inclusion and positive change! Permanent full time role Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Person $94K - $103K per annum (dependent on experience) + superannuation About the role We are seeking an Aboriginal Community Officer who will play a key role in building strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, identifying their needs, and facilitating the delivery of services and programs that enhance cultural and community wellbeing. You will act as the key contact for Traditional Owners, First Nations community members and businesses, and Reconciliation Australia. This position is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified position. Other responsibilities include: Convene and coordinate the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Advisory and Working Groups Development of Glen Eira City Council RAP and actions Organise events and activities to promote understanding of Australia’s First Nations people Review, reporting and evaluation of Council’s ‘Innovate RAP 2024-2026’ About you You are a passionate and culturally aware individual with a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values, and community needs. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build meaningful relationships with Traditional Owners, community members, businesses, and key stakeholders. The following is also required: A tertiary qualification in a relevant field of social policy, planning or community development or lesser formal qualifications and substantial experience Extensive experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Experience in the development of policies and plans, specific experience related to Reconciliation Action Plans will be highly regarded Not meeting all the requirements for this role?
