Aboriginal Family Partnership Worker - Aboriginal Identified Note: This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977. Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family, and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs. About The Position The ANFP Home Visiting Program involves nurses visiting indigenous women and their families identified for the ANFP program to provide comprehensive community health nursing services. The home visiting begins during the antenatal period and continues until the child is 2 years old. The Family Partnership Worker will work closely with the Home Visiting Nurses and the identified families to ensure the effective operation of the home visits. The Family Partnership Worker will provide advice and assistance on a broad range of cultural issues and will ensure the observance of appropriate cultural protocols. The Family Partnership Worker will accompany Home Visiting Nurses on their visits to families and will have a liaison role with other agencies and organisations. Responsibilities: Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate with local Aboriginal people. Knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communities. Experience in the provision of social support services and the ability to liaise and advocate on behalf of clients. Ability to work as part of a team. Experience in community participation and networking. Relevant tertiary qualifications. First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain). A Certificate of Aboriginality. A Current National Police Check. A Current Working with Children Checks NSW (or willingness to obtain). Valid Australian Driver’s License. COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster information (or evidence of a valid medical exemption). Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and current issues affecting lives of Aboriginal people. Benefits: Generous not-for-profit salary packaging.
