Academic Director, Charles Perkins Centre Apply locations: Camperdown Campus Time type: Full time Posted on: Posted 30+ Days Ago About the opportunity The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint the next Academic Director of the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC), a world-renowned multidisciplinary research initiative dedicated to addressing some of the most pressing health challenges of our time. Established to combat chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions, the CPC unites leading experts from diverse fields, including biology, medicine, social sciences, and engineering. By employing a unique systems-based approach, the CPC fosters innovative collaborations that drive transformative research and deliver real-world solutions aimed at improving global health outcomes. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Deans, Heads of School, and other senior leaders, providing both academic and operational leadership to advance the CPC’s strategic and research goals. You will guide the Centre’s mission to generate research that translates into practical solutions, aligning with the University’s broader 2032 Strategy, which focuses on research excellence, innovation, and global engagement. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering multidisciplinary research collaborations and building strong relationships across the University’s research community. About you (skills, capabilities, and experience) We are seeking a dynamic leader with a systems-level perspective and a proven track record in multidisciplinary research. You will possess strong influencing skills, capable of uniting diverse teams and building relationships with stakeholders across academia, industry, and government. Experience managing complex research initiatives, securing funding, and working within a large organisation is essential. Your ability to inspire and mentor academic leaders will be crucial to the Centre’s continued success. Term and remuneration This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of extension beyond this term, subject to performance.
