About the opportunity The Academic Director and Associate Dean (Education) will be a dynamic senior leader, driving the academic success of The Hotel School Australia. Working closely with the Dean, this role oversees the academic and curricular management of the hotel management discipline, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and course material delivery. The position is responsible for the efficient management of academic programs, aligning with the University’s Strategic Plan and SCU Ventures' operational goals. The role will also foster a culture of scholarly inquiry within The Hotel School and SCU Ventures. Your core responsibilities will include: Contribute to strategic planning, course portfolio development, and the establishment of Key Performance Indicators in collaboration with the Dean. Fulfill roles of Associate Dean (Education), Course Coordinator, and Academic Integrity Officer for the Educational Partnerships Board. Foster a culture of scholarly outcomes in alignment with the SCU Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT) Framework. Actively participate and lead in unit coordination, teaching delivery, and student support to ensure academic progress. Oversee the quality of academic staff teaching, identifying staffing needs, and ensure the alignment of teaching with the Hotel School’s programs. Lead or participate in academic committees, implement educational goals aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan, and ensure quality and consistency in course delivery, student success, and feedback evaluation. About you You will be passionate about student teaching and supporting student learning and have a keen interest in academic innovation. More specifically, you will have: A doctoral qualification and extensive experience in higher education leadership, course development, and teaching innovation. A strong scholarly record or publication history in hotel management, hospitality, tourism, or related fields such as higher education, strategy, and business. Experience in higher education collaborations and third-party partnerships. Knowledge of academic governance and regulatory frameworks for higher education in Australia. Proven ability to innovate and build academic, professional, and industry partnerships, particularly within the hotel and hospitality sectors. A track record of successful course outcomes, with evidence of academic performance, student surveys, and retention improvements. This position is: Full time, 5-year fixed term senior appointment Located at either Brisbane, QLD, Sydney, NSW or Melbourne, VIC. Generous relocation support available. Academic Level E. The base salary is $207,573 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $242,860.
