An exciting opportunity to join the Blue Mountains Mental Health Team as a Registered Nurse. This role within the NBMLHD Mental Health service initiates, leads, and supports a ward-based activity program in the inpatient setting with a focus on providing patient-centred care. The successful incumbent will support mental health consumers on their unique journey of recovery by providing opportunities for meaningful engagement through both group-based and 1:1 activity. This is done in consideration of the consumers' own interests, goals, and current acuity. What You Will Bring To The Role Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA). Demonstrated previous experience working with mental health consumers and the ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient-centred care/trauma-informed care principles, as well as the Mental Health Act 2007. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to identify key messages, issues, and concerns when communicating with others. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems. Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning to maintain current registration as a registered nurse. Demonstrated experience in developing, leading, coordinating, and evaluating specialised mental health activity programs in ward-based environments. Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the NSW Health CORE values: Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment.
