If you are, then the new Yarrabing Secondary College is looking for Education Support Staff to join the school from Term 1 2025. About Us Yarrabing Secondary College opened in Term 1 2024 and provides the growing local population with great educational opportunities close to home. It is able to enrol up to 550 students with the stage one facilities. In 2024 Yarrabing Secondary College opened to approximately 150 Year 7 students and will progressively grow by one year level thereafter. In 2025, we will have Year 7 and Year 8 students only. Yarrabing Secondary College is located 29 kilometres west of Melbourne, in the suburb of Aintree. When fully established in 2029, the school will have 1200 students enrolled from Year 7 to 12 and 130 school staff members. Our school grounds are close to planned parklands, sporting facilities, and we are surrounded by a supportive community. Most students that will attend our school live locally and would tend to walk or ride their bike to school. Our school will be culturally diverse with 60% of students having a language background other than English (LOTE) spoken in the family home, with the largest LOTE languages being Hindi and Punjabi. Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated experience and skills in administration with a commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of office systems, software or technical equipment as relevant to the position. SC2 Capacity to undertake routine support tasks across a range of functions in one or more work areas within a school environment. Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management in respect to the work area. SC3 Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high level oral and written communication skills. SC4 Demonstrated ability and qualifications to administer first aid or willingness to undertake the required training. SC5 Demonstrated capacity to work and collaborate with others in a team environment including teachers, education support staff, students and parents. SC6 Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate unexpected challenges, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in meeting the evolving needs and circumstances of the school environment. Demonstrated capacity to contribute to the culture of a school. Role The Administration & First Aid Officer fulfils an important public relations and customer service function. The Administration & First Aid Officer will be flexible, competent, and approachable to all members of the school community. It is expected that they will provide a high level of customer service to the student body, staff, and visitors to the College and be competent in the provision of up-to-date and relevant information. The Administration & First Aid Officer is also accountable for maintaining and inputting accurate data for reporting to staff, School Council, and Leadership teams. The College will follow a strict style guide for the development and publication of correspondence, the Administration & First Aid Officer will play a key role in supporting the implementation to ensure a consistent presentation of all school documents. Responsibilities General Administration Enter and maintain student details on CASES21 Prepare correspondence, documents, spreadsheets, and lists as required and according to School procedures. Maintain appropriate filing systems according to School procedures. Process student attendance records and send correspondence regarding attendance as required. Monitor unapproved absences and late arrivals to class, making contact with families as directed. Assess and administer first aid to students and staff, recording and entering data according to DET requirements. Order, store, monitor and administer medication and medical supplies in accordance with the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances legislation. Provide administrative and reception support to the school community, answering the telephone and responding to enquiries at the reception counter. Provide messages to students in class/retrieve students for early parent pickup. Ensure work areas and staff lounge are in a clean, safe, orderly, and professional condition at all times. Adhere to the College's dress code policy and wear appropriate business casual in the school office. Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the Business Manager or Principal. This position description describes in general terms the normal duties which the Administration & First Aid Officer is expected to undertake. However, the duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the position.
