Administration Officer - Identified - Languages & Culture Education (Organisation site)Partnerships and Programs Branch, First Nations Strategy and Partnerships Division Dandiiri Schools and Community Library, located in Inala, is a valuable state-wide resource centre which showcases many aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education, culture and history.A comprehensive collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources are available for schools and other educational institutions. Resources include teacher reference materials, fiction and non-fiction texts, artefacts, puzzles and toys. The library is an excellent source of materials on topics such as Reconciliation, the Stolen Generation, Native Title and NAIDOC Week.This role is offered on a full-time temporary basis, until 31 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. About the Role Dandiiri Community Library is looking for an Administrative Officer. In this role, you will contribute to the effective and efficient administrative management of the library by providing relevant and timely support to the Senior Project Officer and Principal Advisor. You will work within existing guidelines to provide basic resolution of problems by reference to established procedures. Administration roles play a crucial part in ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and effectively. As such, the library requires capable, organised and efficient administrative staff who are responsive to a continual range of demands and needs from both internal and external sources. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Undertake the day-to-day library duties and responsibilities, including returning and borrowing of library resources, story time with Kindy and playgroups providing a cultural lens for non-Indigenous staff accessing resources. Support the library manager in the operational requirements, including working with school-based staff and community to ensure cultural safety. Co-ordinate the creation and maintenance of procedures and documentation relating to library network support and services; training will be provided. Mandatory Requirements for an Identified Role: It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act. Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage: For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either: Accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives. By definition, a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
