Administration Officer - Mt Isa Flexible School Job No: MTISADM01 Location: Mt Isa Administration Officer - Mt Isa Flexible School FTE: Continuing, full-time role (term time could be negotiated) START DATE: As soon as can be negotiated with successful applicant SALARY: School Officer, Level 5 salary range - $75,924 - $79,618 per annum, plus superannuation ABOUT THE ORGANISATION Mt Isa Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 23 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness. The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness. ABOUT THE ROLE The person occupying this position will support the Head of Campus and staff of the Flexible School. This person will be the face of the school at reception greeting and assisting incoming visitors, guests and families. The position reports to the Head of Campus: Provide administrative support to the Head of Campus and staff and assist with best model of practice. Coordinate and complete all administrative functions. Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s objectives and planning. Contribute to the maintenance of a supportive school environment and in particular to meet the needs of young people to support their engagement in education. Maintain communication and reporting processes with the Head of Campus. Relevant certificate/degree and/or previous Administration experience (minimum 5 years). Experience working in a school environment. Understanding of service provision to marginalised young people particularly within the alternate education sector. High level of verbal and written communication skills, including participating in meeting processes, report writing and negotiation skills. Comprehensive experience with computer applications such as databases, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and web technology is essential. Ability to work to deadlines, multi-task, prioritise the workload, work autonomously and in an integrated manner as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Assist with daily reception duties as required, including: answering phone and distributing messages, check and sort mail, photocopying, laminating, making appointments, assisting young people, respond to enquiries, prepare and send correspondence internally and externally. Assist the Head of Campus with the referral and enrolment process for young people. Assist in the development, review and maintenance of local administrative procedures, internal audits and systems to ensure compliant operations. Develop and implement record management and filing systems that are accurate and easily accessible at all times. Maintain accurate up-to-date attendance records, notes and performance data for all students in the database system, TASS. Assist with communication and correspondence between the school and other individuals and organisations. Maintain the school’s social media presence.
