Part Time Admissions Officer - 45 hours per fortnight About us At The Lost Dogs’ Home, we are a foundation in Victoria's animal welfare landscape, celebrated for our compassionate care of around 18,000 lost and abandoned dogs and cats every year. The Role: In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for receiving and processing incoming animals into the shelter and working to reunite them with their owners. This multi-faceted position combines strong administrative tasks with a focus on customer service. You will need to liaise with various councils and members of the public, efficiently process and locate information within the database, and support the shelter team with other ah-hoc administrative tasks. We seek someone who can thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating with a team of passionate individuals. The role involves some hands-on work and requires confidence in handling animals. This is a part-time position, totaling 45 hours per fortnight, with a rotating roster that includes one weekend per month. Your responsibilities will include: Collating and processing information accurately into the relevant databases for all animals arriving at the Lost Dogs’ Home. Communicate with Council officers in person and via phone regarding impounded animals for both review/clarification and addition of new information. Responsible for scanning incoming animals and the initial investigation of microchip and identification data. Responsible for organising and managing logistics across our multiple work sites. Collating and filing incoming forms and animal transport dispatch requests. Notification of any animal injury or illness to the vet team, subsequently arranging vet checks if required. Support with ad-hoc administrative tasks as required. To excel in this role, you should possess: An ability to deal with complex information and prioritise tasks whilst maintaining integrity and quality of work. High level of discretion and confidentiality in dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Intermediate Microsoft Office and database management skills. Excellent customer service skills including sound written and verbal communication skills. Confidence with handling animals of different breeds and temperaments.
