The CatholicCare Central Queensland and Helem Yumba Domestic & Family Violence Response program provides a range of collaborative and person-centred support interventions to adults, children and young people who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, domestic and family violence. The partnership between CatholicCare and Helem Yumba ensures that all domestic and family violence supports are provided in a culturally safe way. Primary Objective The Adolescent Boys (AB) Clinical Practitioner is responsible for delivering therapeutic, trauma-informed interventions to adolescent boys aged 12-18 who are using or at risk of using family, domestic or sexual violence. This role focuses on promoting recovery, fostering healthier relationship behaviors, and contributing to an evidence base for effective interventions, while ensuring services are accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive. The key responsibilities include: Deliver individualised therapeutic interventions designed to address the effects of family and domestic violence, focusing on safety and wellbeing; Support participants in overcoming trauma and developing healthy behaviors and relationship patterns; Manage the delivery of services that are accessible and culturally responsive, tailored to the needs of diverse participants, including First Nations youth, neurodiverse individuals, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; Work with families, community organisations, and service providers to coordinate support and referrals, ensuring a holistic approach to client needs; Collect and analyse data to contribute to evidence-based practices and the evaluation of therapeutic support services for this demographic. Qualifications and Experience Accredited Diploma of Counselling AQF level 5; and Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience working within the Domestic & Family Violence environment; or Degree qualification with two years of relevant experience working with children and their families; Membership of a relevant professional association such as Australian Counselling Association, ACWA or AASW; Core Competencies Expert understanding of trauma-informed care principles, with the ability to apply them effectively in therapeutic interventions and service delivery; Ability to deliver inclusive and culturally responsive services to diverse populations, including First Nations, neurodiverse, and GBTIQA+ individuals; Substantial level of skill in managing crises and challenging behaviors, ensuring participant safety and adapting strategies based on client feedback and program evaluation; Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with clients, families, and stakeholders through strong verbal and written communication; Proven ability to work collaboratively with families, community leaders, and partner organisations to deliver holistic and effective support; Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting to support evidence-based practices and program improvements; Knowledge of, or ability to gain understanding of, relevant legislation including the Child Safety Act 2017 and Family Law Act 1975; Demonstrated ability to advocate for systemic change and deliver educational content to support prevention and awareness; Other Requirements Ability to travel and work across CatholicCare offices within the Central Queensland region. The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
