The Control/Quality Assurance Advisor is responsible for supporting the Financial Crime Compliance team in developing and executing the bank’s Financial Crime Assurance Program. This role involves providing oversight, review, and challenge to ensure compliance with AML/CFT and Sanctions regulations. Additionally, the Advisor supports the Senior Partner by offering independent review, advice, and challenge on the implementation of AML processes, as well as other initiatives, issues, and incidents across Group Operations to ensure compliance with Financial Crime Compliance obligations. The Advisor also engages with and provides advice to other parts of the Compliance function to help ensure that various business and division initiatives, incidents, and issues comply with financial services obligations. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the implementation of the Financial Crime Compliance Assurance Framework through: Regular, sample-based quality assurance of Line 1 quality control Regular, sample-based control testing of Line 1 controls Targeted, ad hoc deep dive reviews of financial crime compliance in Line 1 The Advisor synthesizes, escalates, and reports findings from assurance activities to identify gaps, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in Line 1’s management of Financial Crime Compliance. About you We are looking for someone with strong, detailed knowledge and understanding of financial crime compliance obligations, including the AML/CTF Act, AUSTRAC guidance, and industry best practices. The ideal person will have experience working in and supporting financial services and banking businesses, products, and services. They should possess knowledge of risk and control assurance methodologies, including control design, testing, and effectiveness. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to build strong, constructive relationships with stakeholders across the Group. They must have the skills to identify areas requiring further analysis and attention, ensuring a pragmatic and robust approach to compliance. Proven experience in building constructive, open, and transparent relationships with stakeholders at an equivalent level in financial services is essential. Lastly, the candidate should have the capability to understand new, dynamic, and complex initiatives, incidents, and issues.
