Career Opportunities: Advisor - Project Communications (11754) Requisition ID 11754 - Posted - AEMO Office (1) - Communications At the heart of Australia’s energy transition Transmission Company Victoria (TCV) is a subsidiary of AEMO, Australia’s independent energy system and market operator and system planner. TCV was established to progress the VNI West project, a major infrastructure project to build a new high-voltage transmission line between Victoria and New South Wales. VNI West will play a critical role in supporting the energy transition, harnessing clean, low-cost electricity from renewable energy zones (REZs) to help maintain the reliability and security of electricity supply in Victoria as ageing coal-fired power stations retire. TCV is seeking an energetic, flexible and experienced communications professional to join a great project team working in a challenging and dynamic external environment. Stakeholder communications and engagement are a critical part of project development, and TCV is working with landholders, Traditional Owners, and the community as we design and develop the VNI West project. The project is currently in the design, planning and approvals phase, undertaking a comprehensive impact assessment via the regulated Environment Effects Statement (EES) process. A preferred easement has been identified in north-west Victoria, and construction is scheduled to commence from 2026 (pending approvals). About the role As Project Communications Adviser, you will report to the Communications Manager as part of the stakeholder and communications team. You will develop a range of communications in a fast-paced, issues-rich environment to support project objectives including effective stakeholder communications and building social licence. You will be required to build strong internal relationships, provide sound advice to team members and management, and take a strategic approach to developing external communications with a range of audiences. What you will be doing Develop strategic communications plans including key messages and tactics in support of project objectives and for specific issues, events, and milestones. Collaborate with the project team to ensure excellent outcomes in community engagement, media/social media, key stakeholder engagement and reputation management. Draft/edit and direct the development of materials including fact sheets, FAQs, website copy, reports, project updates, presentation materials, videos, media releases and social media posts. Contribute to TCV website content and layout/design. Manage technical input and reviews and approvals of materials. Liaise with media outlets (journalists and editors) on project related queries and develop responses for approval. Prepare and brief project spokespersons in advance of media engagement and community events. Contribute to the development of communications and stakeholder strategy. What you will bring to the role Education/Certificates Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Communications, journalism, and/or stakeholder relations experience – at least 10 years. Experience and Knowledge Strong writing, editing and communications skills, including the ability to write for a range of purposes, channels, and audiences. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex or technical information and communicate it simply. Well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with sound professional judgement. Experience in basic UX design and presentation for a website. Negotiation and influencing skills. Ability to prioritise competing objectives and take initiative. Experience in the energy industry and/or in a complex project environment is highly desirable.
