By ensuring sound decisions and efficient management, we strive to create sustainable, well-planned communities offering safe and affordable housing options.Join us in our endeavour to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time and make a tangible difference in the lives of our community.The Role Working closely with the Affordable Housing and Market Solutions Team, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Affordable Housing Officer to join our dedicated team to implement strategies, policies, and agreements to support the delivery of affordable housing outcomes.This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Affordable Housing and Market Solutions and will see you responsible for:End-to-end management of agreements to deliver affordable housing. Coordination, planning, researching information, and developing project plans to facilitate affordable housing. Remaining abreast of current and developing urban planning issues by establishing and maintaining good working relationships with key entities that are responsible for or involved in urban planning and land development, including other government agencies, councils, regional organisations, and development boards. Liaising with local government, planning authorities, other government agencies, and internal stakeholders. Contributing to the development of affordable housing strategy and policy, and other strategic planning and affordable housing related initiatives. Contributing to the development of the department’s strategies relating to urban planning and sustainable residential development. About You To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:A comprehensive understanding of and interest in built environment industries (e.g., housing, urban design, development, planning, housing infrastructure, State’s 15% Affordable Housing Policy, and Affordable Housing Overlay). Experience in gathering information from a variety of sources, analysing content to develop solutions and generate alternative options to achieve outcomes. Experience in presenting complex issues and findings orally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders. High level interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including an ability to represent views and negotiate successfully. High level organisational skills and proven ability to determine priorities, and effectively manage extensive tasks to meet deadlines. Ability to develop collaborative and effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, internal and external to government. Desirable Qualification Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Urban and Regional Planning or another relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).Special Conditions Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years. Term contract.
