The incumbent performs supervisory and technical work in connection with the operation and maintenance of the Airport terminal building and the surrounding grounds. The incumbent takes corrective action through reporting, and when possible or practical the repairing of any deficiencies in terminal equipment, and Airfield equipment. Incumbent will work independently and alongside custodial personnel in cleanliness of Airport Terminal. Assigns duties and act on complaints regarding custodial services, Airport Operations, facilities, and equipment.This position falls within the Airport Operations and Maintenance department and as such departmental efficiencies requires that the position be capable of cross-utilization. Accordingly, this position requires incumbent to complete Airfield Driver, Airfield inspection and Wildlife training for airfield duties as required. Trains new custodial personnel and oversees/assigns work for custodial staff, as necessary. Supervises and gives technical direction, and performs construction, maintenance, repair and replacement of Airport facilities and grounds. Maintains plumbing system in terminal building and Airport properties. Performs preventative maintenance and monitors, as applicable the repair and/or replacement, Airport baggage belt systems, passenger boarding bridges, HVAC systems, fire and door alarm systems, lighting controls, automatic doors, irrigation systems, elevators, escalators, and a variety of terminal area equipment. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on various piece of Airport equipment (e.g., floor scrubber). Performs a variety of manual labor including but not limited to AHU filter and belt changes, trash and debris pick up, sweeping and mopping surfaces, repairing and/or installing fence, and wash windows to a height of 50 feet using an electric lift. Assists, as needed, with terminal inventory control to include, but not limited, to monitoring and/or documenting quantities, re-stocking shelves, and requisitioning supplies to maintain stocks. Assists staff during emergencies involving aircraft or vehicle accidents, incidents, inclement weather, and assists in fuel spill cleanups. Works hazardous weather events (e.g., hurricanes,) emergencies, special events, holidays, and overtime, as necessary. Required to work overtime or alternate hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the airport. Ability to work rotating shifts, on-call schedule and be available for response to after-hour emergencies. Performs duties and assists the supervisor in the proper operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, passenger loading bridges, baggage conveyor systems, fire and door alarm systems, lighting controls, automatic doors, public address systems, gates, irrigation systems, and 400 Hz power supply systems for aircraft. Operates both power and hand tools, automatic floor scrubbing machine, large commercial vacuums, buffers, man lifts, commercial carpet cleaning machines and extractors. Assists technicians in the removing and replacement of a variety of components including but not limited to electrical components, mechanical systems components, loading Bridge tire assemblies. (Note: Heavy Lifting required). Performs other assigned duties as assigned. Additional Job Functions obtained through on the job training: Drives equipment on Airport ramps, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, and safety areas. Coordinates radio directions and color-coded light gun signals from the Control Tower. Performs safety inspections of runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, lighting systems for operation, records result of inspections and reports problems to supervisor. Communicates effectively with Air Traffic Controllers by radio for movement in controlled areas. Conducts FAR Part 139 airfield inspections; assesses airfield conditions for safe aircraft operations, records discrepancies, issues airport NOTAMs and generates work orders as required. Conducts inspections of airport facilities ensuring satisfactory levels of service, repair and maintenance generating work orders as required. Conducts wildlife management in accordance with the airport’s approved Wildlife Hazard Management Plan. Responds to airport emergencies and other incidents at the airport in accordance with the airport’s approved Airport Emergency Plan. Performs and documents findings of FAA required airfield safety inspections. Notifies supervisor of safety concerns. Serves as an Airport Wildlife Officer capable of conducting wildlife inspections, wildlife identification, wildlife hazing/harassment and depredation, if required. Prepares work orders and records results of airfield inspections to maintain FAA 139 compliance. Records wildlife incidents, locations, and movements in and around the airport. Performs other assigned duties as assigned. High School Diploma or GED. (Proof of education must be uploaded with application). One (1) years of related experience in commercial building maintenance and construction Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Pass a pre-hire drug screen and random alcohol and drug testing. Must pass Airfield non-movement and movement area drivers training within three (3) months of hire. Pass federal fingerprint based criminal history background check. Must attend an FAA Security Standards Class and successfully pass a test with a minimum score of 70. Must be able to pass Criminal Justice Information systems Must be able to work variable hours to include weekends and holidays; maybe assigned during hazardous weather (hurricanes,) emergencies and or special events. Must be visual eye exam with visual acuity of 20/40 Must become qualified as an Airfield Inspector within three (3) months of hire Must obtain certification as a Wildlife Officer within three (3) months of hire. Visual acuity of 20/40 Ability to see and work at night in dimly lit conditions as necessary and during inclement weather. Knowledge of two-way radio communication skills utilizing aviation radio procedures and use of phonetic alphabet. Knowledge of OSHA safety rules. Knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques used in building and ground maintenance. Knowledge of local and National Electrical Codes, building codes, plumbing codes, and fire safety codes. Knowledge of safety precautions and practices common to electrical work and safety precautions in an aviation environment. Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English and to understand written and oral directions. Ability to work on highly technical aircraft related operating equipment with highest degree of safety. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other supervisors, Airport tenants, contractors, subordinates, and fellow workers. Ability to work various shifts as assigned. Ability to supervise and instruct personnel in the performance of the duties assigned. Ability to perform hard manual labor in all weather conditions. Ability to walk and work on unstable soil conditions. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions day or night, including very hot and humid weather. Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
