No: 100442 Copper Refineries are currently seeking suitably qualified applicants for the role of Analyst - Laboratory to join the Laboratory and Metallurgy team.Townsville Operations Located on the coast in tropical North Queensland, Glencore’s Townsville Operations encompass Copper Refineries Pty Ltd and Glencore Port Operations.Our Townsville Operations mark the final link in Glencore’s fully integrated north Queensland supply chain, connecting the natural resources we produce with markets around the world.Copper Refineries Pty Ltd is one of the world’s leading electrolytic copper refineries, capable of producing 300,000 tonnes per year of premium-quality ISA brand LME Grade A copper cathode using Glencore’s proprietary IsaKIDD refining process. Learn more about our Townsville Operations at .Role Reporting to the Supervisor - Laboratory, this role will require you to contribute to the safe analysis and preparation of metallic copper, electrolyte, process, effluent, and water samples. You will be responsible for operating mineral processing equipment and numerous scientific instruments to provide accurate analysis results and to monitor quality requirements. The successful applicants will have: Tertiary qualifications in chemistry and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mineral processing laboratory, or a minimum 7 years’ experience in a mineral processing laboratory. Experience with using ICP-OES and sample preparation of solutions for ICP analysis. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications. Experience in sample preparation of powder & metallic samples. Experience using and operating a laboratory information management system (LIMS). Experience using an Arc Spark OES. Experience with Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) will be highly regarded. Experience in using Milling machines and lathes would also be advantageous. You will also possess a proactive approach and strong focus to safety, sound communication and interpersonal skills, as well as high attention to detail, and the ability to problem solve. You will have a self-starting attitude and be able to accept individual responsibility within a small work team.This position is residentially based in Townsville and requires you to work Monday to Friday.
