Add expected salary to your profile for insights The role APRA's mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system.To help us deliver on our mandate and strategic priorities, we are looking for a number of highly talented and motivated individuals to join our banking supervision team.As an Analyst/Senior Analyst, you will undertake prudential supervision and risk assessment assignments across a defined group of authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in order to achieve the government and APRA's objective of providing a prudentially sound financial system. You will work within a small team with responsibility for supervision of a portfolio of organisations.The team The General Insurance and Banking Division supports APRA's core function by undertaking prudential supervision and risk assessment activities to achieve the government and APRA's objective of providing a prudentially sound financial system. The Division's strategic focus is to improve outcomes for banking and general insurance customers.Key responsibilities Engage closely with supervised institutions to ensure that actions to protect depositors are followed; Maintain an up to date and relevant knowledge of market issues and policy proposals that may impact on supervised organisations; Acquire and develop a range of financial analysis and other supervisory skills to support high quality analysis and risk assessment of supervised organisations; Perform preliminary analysis of the internal structure and business relationships of specialised supervised organisations to identify any potential problems and provide a complete background of knowledge and share with more seniors in the team; Adhere to the accepted work practices to adapt a style and process of supervision depending on the supervised organisation's type, size, complexity, functions and risk; and Contribute to the assessment of the quality of the supervised organisation's management, strategies, practices and systems. About you Knowledge and understanding of the APRA mission, objectives, functions, processes and systems; Knowledge of relevant legislation; Up to date with financial market trends and legislative environment; Experience across analysis environments; Excellent organisational and self-management skills; Strong financial analysis, investigative and research skills; Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills; and Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
