83,706 - $89,659 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Sydney CBD - NSW The Role The role of Technical Officer is within the MCPSPO Engineering function and is accountable under the direction of the MCPSPO Principal Engineer. Within the role, you will perform moderately complex work within the MCPSPO integrated team, whilst assisting other Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) System Program Offices and industry to meet capability requirements related to Combat systems and products. The successful candidate will have technical experience in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering, understand the Defence maritime domain and have sound analytical skills, including knowledge of Systems Engineering practices and principles. The successful candidate will: Draw upon knowledge of Combat systems to apply focused subject matter knowledge in a relevant domain and function, ensuring technical compliance and integrity. Communicate and engage stakeholders whilst also developing and evaluating Defence capability to deliver on specific technical aspects. Investigate and expose risks, analyse and report on technical issues, requirements, and develop and implement recommendations and advice to inform decision making and priority setting. Be accountable for exercising assigned technical authorities and any Navy Seaworthiness delegations. Implement technical knowledge and processes to develop advancements to established technical code of practices, techniques, methods and regulations. Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, and actively participate in teamwork. Tailor communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Assess technical packages including scoping, planning and reviewing of packages and provide recommendations for consideration. Evaluate and ensure that the delivered capability meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, and implement actions. Evaluate technical activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation. Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into technical activities. About our Team The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) within Maritime Systems Division is the lead agency for delivery of cross-Class sustainment services and advice across the maritime environment. MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems and supplies, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and offshore. Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions: Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering cells.
