Based in Newcastle, Selector is the publishing arm of Wine Selectors, Australia’s largest independent wine marketer. We create content and opportunities for clients that stretch beyond the pages of the magazine, into events, digital, product ideas, and true partnership opportunities. We specialise in the wonderful world of food, wine, and travel. The Art Director is responsible for driving and producing the high quality, look, and feel of the magazine. This includes all support material, commercial and client content that extends into digital, web, and social. You will have amazing design and layout skills, a thorough understanding of photography, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work to multiple deadlines and to problem-solve as you go. We’re looking for a motivated individual to work in a tight-knit team. You will work closely with the Editorial, Publisher, and Sales and Partnership teams to create a nationally recognised magazine. Who you are Design or other related degree or qualification 5+ years’ experience in the publishing, advertising, or creative industry Demonstrated experience in providing work across print, digital video, and other channels, with a strong understanding of print Art direction capabilities and experience across still and video photography Experience generating and developing creative/visual concepts. This would include all stages of the process from ideation through to production Ability to produce mock-ups, mood boards, and present to key stakeholders Ability to brief and coordinate with other creatives, photographers, stylists, food economists, and illustrators Good stakeholder management and organisational skills Ability to manage timelines and costings Ability to manage deadline pressures Knowledge of Adobe suites, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
