About the role As one of two Assistant Auditors-General (AA-G), the AA-G – Parliamentary Reports & Services (PRS) is an executive level people leadership role responsible for the design and delivery of the performance audit program (approximately 20 engagements of $.5M each per annum), Parliamentary reports, and associated business improvement initiatives. The role is people-centric, culture building and transformational in nature, it has accountability for the professional development of a large team of approximately 75 (direct and indirect) professionals (largely performance auditors, data scientists and analysts) and drives VAGO’s strategic vision for the PRS division, contributing to the overall organisational mission. It fosters strong stakeholder relationships and ensures the delivery of high-quality insights to Parliament and senior public sector decision-makers. The role also manages conceptually challenging, complex projects - identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities - and plays a key part in strengthening public sector accountability. About you A highly skilled people-focused executive leader with a demonstrated ability to build collaborative, empowered and engaged high-performing cultures, you have a strong understanding of government, public administration, or policy development likely gained from your senior management consulting or external audit career in the Big 4 or mid-tier, and/or in government. It is essential that you have a strong track record in program design and delivery, with the conceptual ability and exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills required to simplify complex technical matters and influence decision-making at the highest levels. Adaptable and strategic, you bring a collaborative leadership style, change management capability, and a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to drive innovation in an agile environment. Post-graduate qualifications are highly regarded. This role is based in Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements and may require travel across Victoria and Australia.
