Assistant Collection Manager, Palaeontology Collection Emergency Applications close Tuesday 4 March 2025 at 11.59PM Overview Work type: Full time Salary: $66,063 (pro rata) + 11.5% superannuation Grade: As per advertisement Occupation: Science Location: CBD Reference: VG/MV/9815Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Museum Professional to assist in the management of one of the largest vertebrate palaeontology collections in Australasia. Rare opportunity to enhance one of Australasia's largest Palaeontology collections Position based at Museums Victoria offsite Storage facility in Coburg Close to public transport The purpose of the position is to transfer, register, rehouse and relabel flood-affected Palaeontology Collections housed at Merri-bek Collection facility to restore accessibility. Notable skills and experiences: Sound knowledge of and experience in Palaeontology disciplinary and collection cataloguing frameworks. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with palaeontology collections is an advantage. Sound knowledge and experience of managing and organising collections. Equivalent relevant logistics and distribution experience will be considered. Demonstrated skills and experience in handling museum objects, including awareness of typical object conservation techniques. Sound knowledge of and experience in using electronic collection management databases in museums. Experience with KE EMu and MVWISE is an advantage. Well-developed communication skills, both written and interpersonal, and the ability to work autonomously and in teams. Sound time-management skills and demonstrated attention to detail. The successful applicant will have an appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, with extensive knowledge of palaeontology and geology, or experience deemed equivalent. How to Apply?
