Assistant Director- Financial Accounting The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is currently seeking applications for an Assistant Director Financial Accounting to join the Finance and Procurement team in a full-time ongoing role. This position can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney. Remuneration: The annual salary for the position is EL1 - $113,357 - $133,423 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%. About the ART: The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) plays a crucial role in the Australian legal landscape, providing a process for individuals and organisations to seek an independent review of decisions made under a wide range of Commonwealth laws. Reporting to the Director, Finance and Procurement, the Assistant Director, Financial Accounting manages a team who is responsible for the organisation’s financial and accounting operations. This includes monthly financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and annual reports, ensuring compliance with statutory law, finance and tax regulations, treasury, and taxation functions, and maintaining relationships with external auditors and banks. Responsibilities: Financial Accounting: Manage the monthly financial reporting and annual financial statements and reporting processes in a timely and accurate manner. Accountability: Maintain and document accounting procedures & policies, position papers and solve technical accounting issues. Stakeholder engagement: Develop and maintain complex internal and external relationships with auditors, banks, government entities and other stakeholders by working collaboratively and providing high level technical support including managing the resolution of issues or complaints. Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop the Financial Accounting team. Promote positive behaviours, leading by example and taking a proactive approach to working across functions to deliver on Finance & Procurement priorities. Expertise: Collaborate with and provide timely advice to colleagues, business managers and the executive leadership team on the financial framework and compliance matters. About you: You are an experienced finance professional or talented and motivated professional looking to take the next step in your career and achieve results at a national level. A motivated finance professional preferably with public sector experience. A person who is proficient with accounting standards, who can develop and refine accounting policies and position papers. A person who is experienced and motivated in managing a team and internal and external stakeholder relationships, to deliver high quality accounting and reporting services. To be successful you will have: A thorough knowledge of accounting standards, principles and procedures and strong management skills including an ability to establish and monitor work area plans, build staff capability utilising coaching, mentoring and effective performance management. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively to problem solve issues, improve business processes, and influence innovations. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills and ability to work under pressure including an ability to manage multiple workloads and meet tight deadlines with limited supervision. Demonstrated ability to think strategically including providing expert advice and technical accounting guidance to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring advice is aligned to strategic goals and initiatives.
