Assistant Director Public Transport Operations (005162) Department of State GrowthTransportRoad User Services Applications must be submitted by Monday 10 February, 2025 11:55 PM AEST Award/Classification: Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 8 $140,703.00 to $150,200.00 per annum Employment type: Permanent, full-time Region: South Location: Hobart The Assistant Director Public Transport Operations will provide oversight, direction and leadership for the delivery of quality public transport services in Tasmania, which are attractive to customers. This includes managing contracts for essential public transport services, high-level planning of routes and infrastructure, and developing tools and services to improve the customer experience. The role will support the Director Passenger Transport in engaging with key stakeholders to enhance the profile of public transport as a viable alternative to private travel and ensure priority access to road infrastructure. Period of Appointment Appointment to the role is on a permanent full-time basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight). Duties Manage the human, physical, financial, and information resources of the Public Transport work teams, fostering continued improvement in capability and effectiveness, and identifying opportunities for improving community outcomes. Anticipate, identify, analyze, and manage emerging issues in the delivery of public transport services, providing specialist and authoritative advice, solutions, and recommendations on complex issues to senior management and relevant staff. Support the Director in leading and managing the Branch, assisting in cross-team issues, managing change, and monitoring team performance to ensure effective employee engagement and motivation in delivering high-level client services and Branch/Group/Department outcomes. Foster and sustain strategic partnerships across the Transport Services Group, Agency, other government departments, and key stakeholders to understand broader whole-of-government issues influencing public transport delivery, including representing State Growth in public transport matters. Exercise legislative and other delegations for the procurement and administration of contracts for public transport services. Provide high-level strategic operational advice to the Department and government stakeholders, including Cabinet and Minister, regarding public transport. Minimum Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience. Experience in passenger transport services, policy, or planning.
