Job Description

The Team: The Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer (OCNMO) is a small, high performing, outcomes focussed team. The OCNMO provides strategic leadership and professional practice advice on a diverse range of issues relating to the nursing and midwifery professions. Our priorities focus on, but are not limited to, strategic planning, policy, workforce, research, education and training locally, nationally and internationally. The Role: Research, analyse and develop policy that guides professional practice in nursing and midwifery, and is consistent with agreed nation and statewide strategies. Provide expert policy advice to the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer to inform future statewide policy direction for nursing and midwifery professional practice. Build effective and productive networks with internal and external stakeholders to develop statewide nursing and midwifery policy aimed at promoting future workforce capacity across the Agency. Provide leadership and expert facilitation and consultation skills to achieve agreed outcomes with internal and external key stakeholders. You will need: Extensive knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of nursing and midwifery policy to support professional practice. Broad and demonstrated understanding of the strategic issues relating to the current healthcare system and knowledge of national and international trends relating to nursing and midwifery workforce and service delivery. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive networks with internal and external stakeholders and support effective teamwork within the unit. Details of appointment: Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months. Some intrastate travel may be required. Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application. Salary: $138,478 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.
