Assistant Head of Boarding - Cape York Girl Academy ASSISTANT HEAD OF BOARDING - CAPE YORK GIRL ACADEMY Full Time Ideal Start Date: January 2025 Attractive salary rates apply Generous salary packaging arrangements Onsite Accommodation Available Cape York Girl Academy is a pioneering, girls only, secondary boarding Academy that stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, especially for young Indigenous women. Nestled in the heart of Wangetti in the northern suburbs of Cairns, the Academy focuses on delivering a holistic educational experience that goes beyond the classroom, addressing the specific needs of young Indigenous mothers and their children. By creating a supportive learning environment, the Cape York Girl Academy ensures these young women receive both academic knowledge and life skills. Cape York Girl Academy is seeking an Assistant Head of Boarding to commence in January 2025, or by mutual agreement, for the Wangetti Campus. Ideally, we would like the new Assistant Head of Boarding to commence at the beginning of 2025 although we recognise that the successful applicant may need to give due notice to their current employer. The role of Assistant Head of Boarding at Cape York Girl Academy supports the Head of Campus in the leadership of the boarding house in their absence. The Assistant Head of Boarding must be an exemplary role model for the students at the Academy and will be active in supporting and empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice in the leadership of the campus. Key Responsibilities: Support and Leadership: As Assistant Head of Boarding, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head of Campus in leading the boarding program. Your insights and efforts will be key to maintaining a positive and nurturing environment for our students. Mentoring and Engagement: Engage actively with our students and staff, providing mentorship and support, and fostering a community spirit within the boarding house. Flexible Involvement: Your role will require a commitment to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to cater to the needs of our boarding community. Potential Onsite Accommodation: The role may include the option of onsite accommodation to facilitate your close involvement with the boarding community. The new Assistant Head of Boarding will be someone who: A passion for youth development and a strong belief in the transformative power of education. Experience in a boarding school or similar environment, with a focus on student wellbeing and community building and wanting to take the next step into leadership. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various situations. Willingness to work flexibly, including outside of standard school hours.
