About the role The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Orchard Manager on our Leeton Orchard to assist with the growth and development of the Orchard. The role will ensure the strategy, maintenance and development of the Orchard is achieved in line with operational targets. This role will require the candidate to oversee production under the guidance and instruction of the Orchard Manager and learn all aspects of the Walnut Orchard and management of resources and its people. This role is pivotal to deliver on the Stahmann Webster Strategy to maximise production and quality of its products. Duties include but are not limited to: Understand and execute the relevant Orchard Management Plan Work with the Orchard Manager to plan and coordinate orchard production Work with the Orchard Manager to maintain crop production and optimal growing conditions Direct and oversee activities on the orchard Work with the technical team to develop and deliver on best practice Supervising and training staff to ensure quality and work standards are met within budget and company guidelines Training and overseeing contractors operating onsite Oversee the irrigation schedule and assist as required Oversee the maintenance of all plant and equipment Maintain accurate records of all routine repairs and maintenance Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience working on a large-scale Orchard or Station Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar role in the horticultural industry Experience in drip irrigation Chemical handling Certificate or willingness to obtain Driver’s licence HR licence Why Work with Us?
