Assistant Product Engineer Employment Type: Ongoing (4 roles) Location: Flexible/hybrid working arrangements available across NSW, with some travel to Sydney metro locations required from time to time (negotiable) Grade: Clerk Grade 5/6 Salary Range: $97,027 – $107,059 p.a. base salary dependent on experience, plus 11.5% superannuation Who we are The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is a service provider and regulator, focusing on delivering first-class customer service, digital transformation, and regulatory reform to create better outcomes for the people of NSW. Government Technology Platforms (GTP) forms part of Digital NSW and delivers core and common digital capabilities and infrastructure solutions including cross sector leadership across NSW Government underpinned by the Digital Government Strategy. The opportunity New roles have become available as Assistant Product Engineer in Government Technology Platforms; part of Digital NSW and the Department of Customer Service. Our aim is to be the state’s trusted partner to enable accessible and secure digital platforms and services for the citizens and businesses of NSW. In this role you will deliver product engineering activity and support activities in a multi-disciplined product team, participating in team ceremonies and contributing to feature builds for all-of-government platforms. Day to day responsibilities Assist in coding, testing, and deploying new product features, ensuring high-quality implementation and alignment with project requirements. Actively participate in team ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to support collaborative product engineering efforts. Support the creation and maintenance of comprehensive product documentation to streamline development processes and ensure alignment across teams. Foster strong relationships with cross-functional team members, stakeholders, and partners to ensure the product development meets business requirements and delivers value effectively. Participate in peer and functional reviews to ensure high-quality code is delivered across the engineer chapter. What you will bring to this role Demonstrated experience in quality coding features and product development. Experience in contributing to the review and maintenance of product documentation to support efficient processes and product value delivery. Experience in building strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and partners to ensure effective product development and delivery that meet business needs. Self-driven interest and motivation for continuous improvement. Key knowledge and experience Sound knowledge of product development and engineering practices, policies, and processes.
