Assistant Registrar Collections and Access The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and innovative Assistant Registrar Collections and Access with an eye for detail to join our Registration team in this full-time, ongoing APS Level 5 position. The Assistant Registrar Collections and Access plays a key role in assisting the delivery of a digitisation and data capture program to improve access to and use of the Museum's collections for both internal and external collection discovery, management and online initiatives. Create digital content through research, accessioning, cataloguing, blogs and other digital publications and digital media. Improve digital content on the collection through the creation of digital media and data clean-up of object and related records in TMS (CMIS) in line with the digitisation strategy. Contribute to exhibition installation and demount as required. Please note: This recruitment process is intended to fill both current and future vacancies. While the position on offer is ongoing, a merit pool of suitable applicants may be established to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions within the next 18 months. Key Accountabilities Under limited direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions: Selection Criteria Excellent understanding of the role and functions of the Registration team in a major museum. Ability to work with a collections management application and an understanding of collection documentation, with knowledge of data standards and data for collection control, access and discoverability. Ability to carry out collection-based research, data creation and editing and writing for various audiences including online audiences. Current knowledge and understanding of collection digitisation and the ability to digitise historic materials by scanning, uploading and managing digital media. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to work in small teams and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Well-developed organisation skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve results within defined timeframes and budget.
