We are seeking an Associate Director, Platform Engineering to lead and manage a high-performing platform infrastructure that supports multiple Tribes within the organisation. This is a leadership role that blends technical expertise with strategic oversight, ensuring that our platform infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. The Associate Director will be responsible for shaping the platform engineering vision, overseeing its lifecycle from design to optimisation, and ensuring operational excellence. This role demands strong leadership, a passion for innovation, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business success. The day to day Lead and Mentor Teams: Guide and support platform engineering chapter members within Agile Tribes and Squads, providing mentorship and technical leadership. Drive Platform Innovation: Collaborate with innovation teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies and ensure our platforms support evolving business and technological needs. Define and Govern Architecture Strategy: Develop and enforce platform architecture strategies, policies, roadmaps, and guidelines. Foster Collaboration: Create a supportive and innovative work environment, promoting teamwork and knowledge-sharing. Talent Development: Facilitate career progression, set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and oversee recruitment to ensure a skilled and motivated team. Operational Excellence: Ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies, maintain high security standards, and optimize resource utilization. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior leadership to align platform engineering initiatives with business goals and strategy. Agile Leadership: Contribute to Agile squads, providing hands-on expertise and ensuring alignment with Agile Ways of Working. Risk Management: Identify potential infrastructure risks and implement mitigation strategies. What makes you a great fit? B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent formal training or experience. Industry experience, including working in technical leadership roles within platform engineering or related fields. Strong background in platform engineering, cloud computing, and system architecture. Experience in architecting scalable solutions for structured and unstructured data using SQL, NoSQL, and data pipelines. Deep understanding of security fundamentals, risk assessment, and compliance standards. Strong ability to mentor and develop engineering talent. Proven track record in managing complex projects and vendor/contract management. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills. Strong stakeholder management and ability to work under pressure. Agile mindset, fostering innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
