Associate Director Workplace Relations and Advisory Up to 17% Super & Salary Sacrificing options Fixed term up to 5 years | Full-Time at 1.0FTE About the Role We have a unique and impactful opening within the People and Culture team as the Associate Director, Workplace Relations and Advisory. In this role, you will lead the Industrial relations and Business Partnering functions supporting University Leaders through the provision of strategic advice in relation to all matters connected to industrial and workplace relations. In addition, you will ensure Flinders University complies with relevant legal requirements in respect of employment and industrial issues and lead and manage Flinders University efforts to effectively manage relationships between Managers and employees to ensure fair, diverse, equitable, inclusive, and consistent treatment to all employees. Some of the responsibilities of the position are: Provide specialist Industrial and Workplace Relations advice to P&C Business Partners and University leaders and proactively manage complex matters. Lead enterprise bargaining for the University and manage union relationships. Lead a team of business partners, advisors and IR/ER experts to deliver a responsive service across the University. Brief external legal providers as relevant in respect of complex case management issues and workplace disputes. Oversee and conduct workplace investigations. Provide high level advice to the Director, People and Culture on a range of people-related strategies. Lead or support submissions to Industrial Tribunals as required for the management of unfair dismissals, adverse action matters, discrimination, and related complaints. About You Ideally you are an exceptional leader with extensive experience working in an industrial and HR advisory, including the management of employee investigations and enterprise bargaining negotiations. You have excellent communication skills and can build effective relationships with Senior Executives, unions, and leaders across various levels of the organisation together with having advanced analytical and problem-solving skills in the diagnosis of sensitive and complex matters and in providing innovative and practical solutions on a timely basis. Some of the key position capabilities of the role include: Extensive knowledge and understanding of employee relations/industrial relations legislative and regulatory requirements and processes. Sound understanding of contemporary People and Culture management theory and practice. Demonstrated understanding of People and Culture policies and practices as they apply within the University sector. Experience in leading enterprise bargaining. Demonstrated experience in overseeing and ensuring the independent and effective management of complex industrial matters. Evidence of highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, including coaching and mentoring, advocacy and influencing skills, presentation and report writing skills.
