About the Role (Your Why) You will be joining our growing Networks Managed Services team, working with a dedicated team to deliver excellence through building true partnerships with our important federal customers. The purpose of this role is to provide Datacom and the customer with network solutions, solution implementation, and timely updates, all whilst maintaining a balanced approach to customer service and team collaboration. As a Network Engineer, you will work across several of our Federal Government client accounts in an agile secure environment to provide security and network solutions that meet or exceed the ISM requirements as well as relevant ISO standards. This is a full-time permanent position based in our ACT office. This role will be working on an on-call roster with evening and after-hours work as agreed with the customer. As this role will be working with our Federal Government clients, Australian Citizenship with eligibility to obtain an NV1 clearance is required. Candidates with current NV1, NV2 or OSA will be preferred. What You’ll Do As an Associate Network Engineer, you will be a member of a highly skilled network engineering team, working on but not limited to: Maintaining corporate data communications network services, components, and associated infrastructure under close supervision Maintaining technical documentation, reports, and records regarding infrastructure solutions Conducting acceptance tests and commissioning communications systems and equipment Testing, implementing, monitoring, and tuning networking software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issues Performing hands-on systems engineering tasks under the guidance of more experienced network engineers Providing a low level of escalated technical support to both network users and help desk staff Building strong stakeholder relationships with the team and customer Providing on-call or after-hours support as needed What You Will Bring 2+ years working in a professional services environment Developing knowledge of Networking and Firewalling covering Datacentres, Local Area Networks (LANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs) Understanding the concepts of networking and the security associated with networking Computer skills (Linux preferred) Analytical and problem-solving skills Strong customer service focus with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Achieved or working towards tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering 2+ years networking experience and coding in Perl and Python would be desirable Why Join Us Here at Datacom?
