Details - Associate Professor of Professional Practice and Teacher Education Associate Professor of Professional Practice and Teacher Education Job No.: 568621 Work type: Continuing About the position The position is expected to make contributions to the teaching and research objectives of the School of Education. Leadership in areas such as student experience, academic staff development, teaching and learning innovation and initiatives, research innovation and projects is an essential element of the work of the School in achieving its strategic goals. In conjunction with this, leadership and research into innovation in flexible delivery and online learning approaches is critical to the future of the School across all campuses. The position holder will have a strong understanding of current issues and research that impact professional practice and teacher education. A focus on evidence-based strategies including the learning sciences would be advantageous. Demonstrated experience in developing high quality teaching and learning programs underpinned by current research in teacher education, evaluation and assessment at a tertiary and/or school level is essential. The position holder will also understand diverse theories that inform learning approaches from a range of theoretical dimensions to lead change. The position holder will have a research track-record and a program of research that will inform evidence-based approaches to research projects, course and teaching delivery. There is an expectation for a demonstrated track-record in working with school and sector leaders to further strengthen course and research collaborations. As a Level D Academic some of your duties at this level will include: Design, coordinate and teach subjects and courses which provide a high-quality learning experience that engages undergraduate, honours and postgraduate students. Design innovative and effective curriculum which reflects developing best practice nationally and internationally, utilising various methodologies including online and blended learning. Contribute to La Trobe’s Scholarship of Teaching (SoLT) and disciplinary teaching pedagogy and research. Provide leadership and mentoring to others in subject or course level curriculum design and development and delivery of teaching. Conduct and lead innovative and high impact research and produce conference and seminar papers and publications resulting from that research. Play a significant role in research projects including leadership of research teams and/or management of projects. Maintain professional practice skills/knowledge and expertise at state/nationally recognised level. Skills and knowledge required for this position: Completion of a PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline area. Sophisticated ability to engage with industry leaders in education to develop opportunities for course and research collaborations. Record of successful research student supervision relative to opportunity. Demonstrated record of achievement as a leading academic with a reputation for skills, knowledge and expertise at a state/national level. Success in obtaining research funding from grants/contracts/consultancies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
