The team are ranked in the Legal 500.Introduction To The Team: The Hill Dickinson Newcastle Shipping Team works with clients such as P&I Clubs, shipowners, charterers, and cargo owners. The team deals with both commercial and contentious matters. This includes ship arrest, contractual disputes, cargo claims, ship sale and purchase and advising on terms and conditions.Key Responsibilities: Major recovery actions for unpaid shipping and bunker claims Vessel arrests Advising lenders on recovery and sale of vessels under security documentation Bill of lading disputes Public inquests following fatality, jurisdictional issues and indemnity and contribution proceedings. Advising on ship sale and purchase, terminal and port operations and European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIGs) Preparing and reviewing standard terms and conditions What Are We Looking For: Important criteria: Qualified Solicitor or equivalent (e.g., Legal Executive) Maritime and contentious experience preferred. The ability to work as part of a team and independently. Demonstrable understanding of clients, colleagues, and others Strong interpersonal and communication skills Able to prioritise tasks and to work under pressure. Excellent organisational skills Business development aptitude to promote Hill Dickinson and the Marine department through networking and business development activities.
